Are you always into the latest beauty trends? Perhaps you try them before all of your friends and will experiment with anything to help maintain your youthful looks? Then you’ve come to the right place. Stay ahead of the crowd and get the low down on the latest beauty treatment trends for 2016, here..
Cupping
Although it has only become ‘trendy’ in recent years, cupping is in fact an ancient form of alternative medicine. A practitioner will place small cups to the back to create local suction on the skin. This mobilises blood flow and promotes healing in that area, but it is also an effective treatment for healing deep scar muscle tissue, muscle knots or swelling.
So, how is the suction made? Well, the treatment provider will warm up the cups so that your skin is gently drawn upwards to create a vacuum effect. When used as a beauty procedure, cupping can help treat acne, eczema and other skin traditions.
Cupping fans include: Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and Lena Dunham.
Please note: Due to the amount of unwanted toxins being pulled up to the skin and vacuum effect, cupping will leave circular like bruising which may last up to 3 weeks.
Vampire Facials
If you’re the squeamish type, please look away now or scroll down to the next point.
Vampire facials are named so due to their use of the client’s own blood. Blood is extracted from an arm and then spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma (basically, separating the liquid from the blood cells). This is then injected into the face to encourage new growth.
This Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment has been used for decades for healing of wounds or burnt skin, especially among athletes. However, it got really popular among celebrities during the early 2010s thanks to the craze of vampire films, such as The Twilight Saga, and TV show The Vampire Diaries.
Since then vampire facials have become more affordable, now averaging around £600 a session (3 sessions is recommended), and therefore have become more mainstream. We think 2016 will be the year that sees these bloody treatments take off.
Kitty Litter Exfoliant
Now, this one we’re not 100% sold on, but we do think it will take off next year – whether that’s a good thing or not!
We all like a bargain, and DIY beauty treatments are just that. However, cat litter isn’t the first thing we’d reach for to rub on our faces. Former Jersey Shore cast member Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi swears by it.
Unscented cat litter apparently acts as an affordable exfoliator or, when mixed with water, can be used as a moisturising face mask.
So, why aren’t we convinced? Some litter can have harmful chemicals, such as aluminum silicate, an ingredient used in glass-making. Therefore, this could end up doing a lot more harm than good. We think we’ll be avoiding this trend like we did the Kylie Jenner lip challenge.
Teeth Whitening
Although this isn’t a new treatment, we predict professional teeth whitening to continue to grow in 2016. Why? Well according to Google, the number of people running searches for ‘Teeth whitening’ has been steadily growing for years and this will continue over the next 12 months. So the demand is there!
There is now a lot more awareness that high street products just don’t have the same effectiveness as professional treatments, so whether it’s for a big event, birthday or just general maintenance we think more and more people will be booking professional teeth whitening treatments very soon.
