Lars von Trier’s new movie “Melancholia”, featuring our favorite Vamp from HBO’s True Blood, Alexander Skarsgård, has had its first trailer released. Expected to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this summer, the film will be released in the U.S. later in the year. Appearing alongside Skarsgård are: Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, and his father, Stellan Skarsgård. The film is a sci-fi drama about a planet that is slated to collide with Earth, while on planet Earth a wedding is taking place. Justine and Michael (Dunst and Skarsgård) are having a gorgeous celebration, but their impending doom is obviously throwing a wrench into things.
Drama, Drama
The trailer shows a wedding being held with the normal tension between families in a dramatic setting, and all the while a planet looms ahead. The families are awaiting the arrival of the possible end of times, and struggling with how to lead their lives knowing they could be cut short. A dramatic Kirsten says:
“Life is only on Earth — and not for long.”

Since we can’t have True Blood yet, it’s nice to see Alexander Skarsgård in any role he plays… sigh, waiting truly sucks!
