When to buy your wedding shoes
It is essential to have your shoes ready for your final dress fitting to ensure the height of the dress can be altered to suit the heel height of your shoes.
Wedding shoes heel height
Remember you will be wearing your shoes for a long time all day and for dancing the night away so it is important to wear a heel that is comfortable.
You most definitely don’t want to be tottering down the aisle on heels you can’t walk in, so if you are used to wearing a flat style then it is not a good idea to think you will be able to wear a 3 inch heel all day.
Measure a heel height on one of your favorite shoes you know are comfortable, this way you will have a height you know you can wear.
Insolia are also a great little insole which are usually found in some Marks and Spencer shoes. They make you feel like you are wearing a lower heel.
The cost of your wedding shoes
There are so many styles available to meet all wedding budgets. If you are wearing a longer dress then the shoes will not be on show all day but you can still have some sparkle by having just the toes decorated.
A more affordable shoe might be good if you are on a tight budget and there are some super styles around that won’t break the bank.
If you are wearing a shorter dress then push the boat out and go for a show stopping style!
Wedding shoes — choosing the right colour
If you are going to visit the shops for your shoes make sure you take a color swatch of your dress with you; your bridal shop should be able to give you a sample.
Ask what the shop’s return policy is so you have enough time to try the shoes on with your dress.
Consider different lights: natural and artificial light can make shoes appear lighter or darker.
Wedding shoes you can dye are a great option especially if you dress is more creamy or champagne. It’s possible to send them into a color studio to have them dyed to match your actual swatch.
Dyeable wedding shoes
Invest in a pair of dyeable wedding shoes as these can also be dyed after your wedding to a more serviceable color so you can wear them for many years to come.
Treat your feet for peep toe shoes.
A wonderful pedicure will give your feet a real treat. Soft smooth skin and pastel painted nails look gorgeous in peep toe shoes especially for a summer wedding. When professionally done they can even last through your whole honeymoon.
Consider the weather!
Consider the time of year or wedding location as this will affect the style of shoes you can buy. In the winter a wedding boot or even white Wellingtons will come in handy when travelling to and from the church and for photos.
Some fun fur lined boots are great for the airport as they can be detailed with Just Married on the back! A wedge shoe is great for outdoor weddings to stop heels sinking into the ground or sand.
For foreign climates white or ivory sandals or even flip flops with crystals are very popular and allow your feet to breathe when hot.
There are a wonderful range of fun his and hers “Just married” flip flops available. These leave a just married imprint in the sand. Cute!
