This week's Top Ten Tuesday on The Broke and the Bookish is "Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read." Well, considering how many books there are out there and how relatively few I've read, this shouldn't be too hard. Here are the first ones that come to mind, in no particular order:
1. Michael ChabonI have been meaning to read The Adventures of Kavalier & Clay for, like, a decade. I even tried once. But I've never made it through that - or any of his other books.
2. Gillian Flynn
I need to read Gone Girl. Like, now. I even got a copy of it for Christmas from my friend Martha, but somehow it's never right at the top of the pile. Really gotta get on this one.
3. Veronica Rossi
I've heard a fair bit about her books, mostly really, really good, but haven't gotten to any yet!
4. Gena Showalter
I am intrigued by Alice in Zombieland. Love the cover, and it sounds like it could be really interesting!
5. Lauren Myracle
I mostly know of her because she contributed to Let It Snow with John Green and Maureen Johnson. Not sure if she's one of those you have to read or not, but I love John and Maureen, so she's in good company!
6. Kasie West
The Distance Between Us. Pivot Point. Both are sitting on my shelves, staring at me accusatorily as I type this.
7. Sarah Dessen
A colleague sat me down and enthused about Dessen's books at great length, listing off which order I should read them in and what topic each dealt with. So I know she usually deals with a Big Issue, and that some of her characters cross over from one book to another. And yet.... still haven't made it through any of her books!
8. Markus Zusak
The Book Thief. Yep, I know. Not even going to try to make an excuse for this one.
9. Laurie Halse Anderson
I recently got The Impossible Knife of Memory AND Speak. So they're both sitting there, just waiting.
10. Orson Scott Card
This one I'm including, but I haven't read his books on purpose. In case you don't already know, Card holds some very strong opinions on homosexuality that I find offensive, and so for me, his books are a no-go.
Okay, now make me feel better - tell me there are at least a few of these you haven't read - or some similarly popular authors! Share in the comments!
