Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish (click the image to visit them) who pick a different topic each week.
This week the topic is: Top Ten Books Beach Reads That I’d Put in my Bag.
I’m not sure if I’m going to get a holiday this year, but I am going to try to get a last minute deal in August/September perhaps, so fingers crossed. This topic is reealllly making me want to go away for a week of laying on the beach, drinking cocktails and reading. Ahhhh…yes please.
Anyway, these are the books I would take IF I was going away in the next month or so. They’re not all what I would class as beach reads, but they’re the books I really want to read but haven’t found the time to yet so I’d shove them in my holiday bag for sure.
In no particular order…
Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins: I really like the look of this, but haven’t got round to buying a copy yet. If I was going on holiday, I’d totally pick this up at the airport though.
Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer: Ahhh so much love for this series. I actually just got this through the post so it will be read soon, holiday or no holiday.
Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy #3) by Richelle Mead: Same for this series too! This one is set during Spring Break as well by the sound of it…even better!
Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl: I really wanted to start this series before I saw the film, but I failed. I don’t usually like reading the book after the film (which I enjoyed) but I saw this at a car boot sale for like 20p so I’m going to give it a go!
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green: I find John Green a bit hit and miss by himself, but I love his collaborations like Will Grayson, Will Grayson written with David Levithan. I’m not sure this would be a great beach read though, from what I’ve heard. Unless you enjoy sobbing on a beach. I do have this lined up to read soon though.
The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas I’ve had this on my TBR pile for quite a while. It would be one of the first ones to go in my bag if I was going away. <3"><3"><3 Celaena!
The One (The Selection #3) by Kiera Cass: Don’t even get me started on this. Obviously, it would be a PERFECT beach read. IF IT IS EVER AVAILABLE IN THIS GODDAMN COUNTRY. Deep breaths.
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides: I have seriously had this book on my TBR pile for about 5 years. I’ve been told it’s amazing, it sounds amazing, I have no idea why I haven’t got round to it yet. If I was going on holiday I would read the crap out of it!
A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare: I’m actually reading this in June as part of the Once Upon a Time challenge. I don’t think I’ve ever read it all the way through.
City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments #6) by Cassandra Clare: This would be in my beach bag but I need to read books #4 & #5 first. I am determined to catch up by the end of the year. Malec!!!
