Top 5 – Rosehip Oils

Top 5 – Rosehip oils

About a year ago I wrote about what was so good about rosehip oil and it has continued to be a popular post week after week.

Since then I’ve been asked many times which rosehip oil I prefer and to be honest, I don’t have a favourite one. I’ve always varied the brands depending on which one I see first. I’ve used all of the following rosehip oils by each brand and I thought I’d also throw in a few others I’ve trialed in the past.

All of these rosehip oil variations are priced $30 or less, which won’t break the bank. It’s also well-known that other than sunscreen – which is something everyone should be using everyday – rosehip oil is a great anti-ageing product. It’s nothing fancy, with all sorts of ingredients thrown into it and promising to do something it won’t, it’s oil in it’s simplest form which is the closest pH level to your own skin and will not only help with fine lines, it’ll help with pigmentation and scarring. If you haven’t tried it yet, DO IT – like, yesterday!

Here are my previous posts where I’ve featured rosehip oil… my night skincare routine and my five minute skincare routine that usually happens in the shower.
I will be doing an updated post on the above posts also, so please stay tune to the blog for those.

FYI Rosehip oil should be a rich amber colour. The richer the colour the less processed it is. Cold-pressed rosehip oil is ideal.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+, $29.99 (30mL)
I’ve used this version the most and I’m just in love with it! It is on the higher end for a drugstore brand but it’s well worth the extra money.
Available from pharmacies, Priceline and health food stores.

Kosmea Skin Clinic Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, $24.95 (20mL)
This version has the richest colour to it and has a thicker consistency than some others. It’s just beautiful on the skin and has the strongest scent of all the variations I’ve tried.
Available from David Jones, Myer, Priceline and health food stores.

Sukin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, $19.99 (25ml)
The Sukin version melts on to the skin like butter. Not as thick as some others but still an amazing variation and has a great price point also.
Available from pharmacies, Priceline and anywhere that sells Sukin skincare products.

Rosehip Plus Rosehip Oil, $24.99 (50mL)
Rosehip Plus isn’t one of the well-known brands and I’ve only ever seen this brand at Chemist Warehouse. This version is probably one of my favourites because it’s cold pressed and has a rich thick consistency also. It also comes in a 50mL bottle which is perfect for body application.
Available from Chemist Warehouse.

A’kin Pure Radiance Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, $19.99 (23mL)
This one is the thinnest of all five which means it’s probably a lot watered down than the others. Not bad for the price and still works beautifully but you’d have to apply a little more oil than others.
Available from pharmacies, Priceline and health food stores.

And here are few other I’ve tried and recommend…

Swisse Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, $19.95 (20mL)
Who would have thought a vitamin and supplement brand would make their own certified organic rosehip oil. Swisse brought out their own skincare and haircare range previously so when I saw this on the shelves it didn’t really surprise me. I also prefer the pump than to the dropper – good move.
Available at Chemist Warehouse and anywhere that stock Swisse products.

Grown Rosehip and Camellia Seed, $24.99 (18mL)
I love Grown products. They don’t come in fancy packaging and everything is pretty straight forward on the boxes and products themselves. This version is beautiful and has the added Camellia seed extracts oil which has outstanding moisture retaining ability so it’ll soak beautifully into the skin – and stay there.
Available from Priceline, David Jones and anywhere that stock Grown products.

Natio Rosehip Oil, $19.95 (15mL)
This was the very first version of rosehip oil I sampled and I loved it. I love the pump – so much better than the dropper – and it’s just the best.
Available from Myer, David Jones, Priceline and anywhere that stock Natio products.
