Other than fresh flowers, I love with having scented candles around my home. It’s very comforting and I find that it creates a beautiful, peaceful atmosphere.
Personally like my candles in glass jars, simply because they’re not as messy and they look very elegant when sitting on a desk or bedside. Simple pleasures such as a fragrant scented candle in the home is a must for me.

- TRIM THE WICK every time you’re about the light your candle down to half a centimeter. Trimming the wick prevents that black smoke from burning and making everything black.
- SET THE CANDLE’S MEMORY this really applies to candles that aren’t in glass jars. After trimming the wick, let the candle burn til it gets to about 1cm from the edge, snuff the candle and let the wax set. From there on out, the candle will only burn as far as you allowed it the first time, which prevents wax spilling everywhere.
- ALWAYS PLACE CANDLES ON GLASS DISHES this prevents staining on your furniture and the heat burning through the bottom.
- SMELL THE CANDLE FROM THE BOTTOM the scent is the strongest at the bottom.
- SCENT INTENSITY all depends on the candle when it’s not lit. So, if the scent is stronger when it’s sitting on the shelf, when lit it’ll have a light scent when lit. If it’s light, it’ll burn stronger. Don’t know why that is, but it’s known to be this way.
- REMOVE ALL LABELS off pillar candles to prevent burning. I often remove the labels and leave them in my handbag or wallet so it makes them smell nice. They last much longer than the sample cards for perfume.
- AVOID DRAFTS which makes the candle burn unevenly, which could lead to wax spilling everywhere.
NEVER EVER EVER leave candles unattended and/or have them burning while you’re asleep.
