Holiday Types

Unsure where to plan your next holiday break or what to do? Family holidays with the kids can be the height of fun, but they can also be utterly dreadful if the trip hasn’t been properly thought out.

Perhaps the thought of organising the annual holiday fills you with a sense of dread, all that price comparison site scanning and destination choosing can really kill the initial buzz of booking a holiday. That’s why we’ve decided to do the hard work for you and find the ultimate holidays geared towards kids. This should keep you going for the next 3 holidays at least:

Ski Holidays in La Plagne, France

From the age of four onwards, ski holidays with kids come with a promise of guaranteed fun. What’s not to love about the idea of waking up in your very own chalet, toasting your feet by the fire and looking out to see snow topped pine trees and mountains? When you add in the daily dose of fun and adventure on the slopes, plus the option of delicious food cooked for you by chalet hosts, it’s easy to see why skiing holidays are such a hit.

La Plagne is a ski resort in France which is geared towards families, many of whom return religiously for their annual dose of ski slope heaven. With plenty of English speaking ski instructors and childcare agencies for those days where you want a bit of ‘me’ time, this destination is so popular with parents and children alike.

Beach Holidays in Lyttos, Crete

One of the less traveled destinations, but a beautiful destination nonetheless, Lyttos in Crete is hotly tipped to become the future beach holiday of choice. With a range of fantastic waterparks around every corner and sun stripped aquamarine beaches aplenty, this Greek destination is making waves in the holiday world.

Cultural Holidays in Edinburgh, Scotland

If you’re looking for a break from the norm, an arts and culture centric holiday could be just the ticket. In recent years, the number of festivals geared towards parents with kids has soared and festivals such as Greenman, Camp Bestival and Latitude offer it all: live music, world cuisine, children’s areas and family fun such as wildlife walks and craft workshops.

However, none have managed to trump the Edinburgh Festival, Scotland’s biggest family event. This month long multi-event is made up of mini festivals geared towards parents and children alike such as science, children’s storytelling, dance, theater and books.

Green Holidays in Pembrokeshire, West Wales

When people who haven’t visited Wales think of Wales, they usually conjure two images in their brain; rain and sheep. And indeed, Wales does enjoy its fair share of annual rainfall and houses a large population of sheep, but it also boasts idyllic beaches, breath-taking scenery and a plethora of fun activities for children.

Go green and plan a camping trip to Pembrokeshire at the height of summer. Pitch up next to one of the many beaches, hire bikes, walk the Pembrokeshire coastal path and enjoy the luxury of being truly ‘away from it all’. Kids will love the vast green spaces and variety of theme parks surrounding the county, and you’ll love the peace and quiet.

Author Note: We hope we’ve given you some food for thought when it comes to booking your next holiday with kids. Snowchateaux offer charming accommodation in the family friendly La Plagne ski resort amongst others. Interested in traveling to La Plagne? Visit the website to learn more.
