Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright) by Rod Stewart.

So I was talking to a friend last night on messenger and they randomly say, “Tonight’s the night!!” and I’m like huh? Then I responded with a link to the video in today’s post. I always do that – take what people say and remember a song with the same title. I’m not really fan of Rod Stewart’s music but I know a lot of people visit here and maybe they are! So here’s to Rod for today’s post…

Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright) was released as a single in May of 1976 from his seventh album, A Night on the Town. Interestingly enough, the song was banned on British radio stations due to it’s suggestive lyrics. The lyrics are about a girl who’s never been intimate before and the guy wants to be with her.

In the United States, the single went to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 in August of 1976. It also went to #3 in Australia.

The female vocalist in the song was his girlfriend at the time, Swedish actress and singer Britt Ekland.
