Tommyrotter American Whiskey Review

By Josh Peters @TheWhiskeyJug

There’s not a whole lot about Tommyrotter American Whiskey online, but what we do know is that it’s a mix of different sourced whiskeys blended and finished in wine barrels. So in a way, it’s like High West releases, but with less transparency about where the ingredients come from. Which isn’t that big of a deal really.

Tommyrotter American Whiskey

In Scotland, you rarely know all of the distilleries in any given blended Scotch. It’s not something most blenders disclose and that’s fine because they don’t claim to have distilled the component parts. You know it comes from a variety of distilleries and what you’re ultimately tasting is the skill of the master blender.

I view this as a Scottish approach to American Whiskeys. And in that it’s enough to know they’re not claiming to have distilled it. Now, let’s jump into this American Whiskey Review.

Tommyrotter American Whiskey Review: Overall and Score

This is not a heavy whiskey, it’s a nuanced whiskey. Aroma starts out pie-like with fruit and graham and develops a slight herbal character as it opens. Palate adds a layer of caramel and butteriness to the whiskey but still manages to come through crisply. The finish is the perfect sweet and rustic ending to this whiskey.

A bit more time-in-oak could help deepen the whiskey and bump up the intensity a bit, but as it sits it’s a nice sipping whiskey. Might not reach for on a regular basis, but something that I’d love to have on the shelf as an option. The Tommyrotter American Whiskey is unique and definitely worth a taste if you come across it.

SCORE: 86/100 (B)
