Swiss watchmaker Tissot has just signed a three-year agreement that makes it the official timekeeper of the RBS Six Nations Championship international rugby union tournament.

The agreement includes a lot of visibility for the brand, online, in-broadcasts, and at the venues where the tournaments will take place. The deal comes just in time as the first match between Wales and Ireland is to take place February 2nd in Cardiff.

Tissot will provide an online countdown clock to the tournament on the official RBS Six Nations website. Broadcast viewers will notice the Tissot name associated with live on-screen timing graphics for the matches on each of the Six Nations broadcast partners at each venue. The partnership also includes the watchmaker providing referees with Tissot T-Touch Expert timepieces.

Tissot had been associated with the event in 2004 and again in 2005. Since 2009, British brand Graham London was used as the timekeeping sponsor.

They apparently have been busy over at RBS Six Nations as the tournament approaches. It was just last week that the Royal Bank of Scotland announced it was extending its title sponsorship of the event for four more years.

Tissot is a luxury brand watch maker that has been producing innovative time pieces since 1853. They produced the first pocket watch that could keep time in two separate time-zones in that year, and created the first anti-magnetic watch in 1930.

This is far from their first official timekeeping sponsorship as the company first tied-in with sports in 1938. It is then they served as official timekeeper for ski races held in the Jura Mountains, near the company’s headquarters.
