We've all been there, we let the housework pile up promising ourselves we would do it tomorrow, then the next day etc etc..when it's summer you just don't want to spend your day  slaving away in the house, it's ok though, you're not alone! So yes you can get your marigolds on and clean it, that would be an option, but before you get stuck in, here are a few tips to get your house looking spruced and ready to have friends over again..
Tips: Spruce Up Your Home!
New Accessories One of my favorite things to do! Shabby chic is in right now and boy does the retail world know it! Everything from straw butterflies to bird cages are the range right now and really add that personal touch to your home! You don't have to spend a fortune, eBay and stay ate fab online stores with cute vintage stores...or if you're feeling crafty why not make your own? Using items already in your home? Be inventive! We've just made a few memory boxes using old boxes and wallpaper which was fun and actually turned out rather well! Have a look on Pinterest for some inspiration! I think wall art is one of my favorite accessories, why not get some canvas' made up of the family and hang them up on your walls? Or some other kind of art, perhaps a photo montage, floral sculpture or a giant clock, something that draws people in! Again, you can create your own if you're feeling inventive too! We are currently re-doing our bedroom where we had 3 bare walls, one now has a big canvas, another has a clock and the third has a hanging heart decoration, it really does make all the difference!
Update your furniture

Furniture is a lot like fashion, in the sense that although certain things are timeless, the styles constantly change along with the seasons, I remember my Nan's house being very 50's styled, with funky coloured carpet and wooden panels stuck to the walls, and although it isn't very 'in' now, back then it was so popular and all the range! My personal favorite styles at the moment are the beautiful French vintage inspired and also oak wood furniture too, I find myself constantly browsing online and creating a wish list of things I love, a few of my favorite items are from Trade Furniture, they have something for every room and to suit every budget too! Also visit a local Artisan market or bootsale for some fab finds for next to nothing!
Hire a cleaner Just for a one off major spring clean, we all know what it's like, if you've got kids or not, messiness is inevitable, maybe you've had a long day week at work and just can't be bothered to wash up or spruce up the house, maybe it's just taken a backseat because whenever you tidy up, you know within the hour the kids will make it a mess again...call a local cleaning service to carry out a one off clean, you can go out for the day, e it at work or some retail therapy..just let them work their magic, you'll come back to a sparkly clean home which will now be manageable if things do get a little messy again!
