Do Some Planning

Even when you’re booking a last minute ski holiday, you can still plan in advance what your budget is and where you would like to go. Researching countries and resorts will also reduce stress when it comes to booking your holiday, and knowing what the usual prices are will help you recognize a good deal.

Getting The Best Price

Booking at the last minute can mean that your selection of destinations and accommodation is limited. Don’t let this put you off, if you’ve looked at destinations in advance then you will have an idea of what the going rates are. If you’ve left it to the last minute to both book and plan your ski holiday then it is worth your time spending an hour or two researching not only the destination you’re looking at, but others as well, to make sure that you’re getting both a good price and good value for money in terms of facilities and activities on offer.

Finding The Best Snow

Leaving your booking until the last minute is a good way of making sure you get the best snow, as you can see how good the snow cover is nearer to the time you will be traveling. Visit a website such as Snow Eye which shows webcams from thousands of ski resorts all over the world. This will give you an idea of what the weather is like at different resorts (you will want good snow coverage, but on the other hand you don’t want to go somewhere where it is constantly snowing so hard that the slopes are closed), and also how busy the slopes are.

Best Accommodation

The best accommodation for you will depend on your requirements. If your accommodation is very close to the slopes you may want to consider accommodation where your meals are provided. If its a long walk (remember that you will be carrying skis around with you) or a bus ride away, look out for hotels that offer a free bus to the slopes.

Transfers

You you will need transfers to your resort from the airport. If you book a package holiday, this will often be included. If you’re booking your flights and accommodation separately, you will have to organize this yourself. Make sure you remember to do this because no one wants to be stranded at the airport with all that snow out there waiting for you to hit the slopes! Also watch out for hidden airline charges for extra baggage if you’re bringing your own skis or snowboard.

Finding A Resort With A Good Atmosphere

The definition of a good atmosphere will depend on what you’re looking for in your ski holiday, so research your resort before you go. Some resorts have lots of bars and clubs, so are perfect for people looking to experience the nightlife, whereas a resort with lots of children’s activities will be better for families. Don’t rush your booking just because its last minute, make sure you’re choosing the right resort for you so that you get what you want from the holiday.
