Timorous Beastie Whisky Review

By Josh Peters @TheWhiskeyJug

What happens when the folks at Douglas Laing blend together a bunch of different Highland single malts? You get the Timorous Beastie Whisky that’s what. They combined a who’s-who list of distilleries to pull together this little beastie and we’re about to find out how they did.

Timorous Beastie Whisky

Since everything I’d want to add about this whisky is in the company comment below, I’ll let them tell the rest of the story before we hop into the review.

Timorous Beastie Whisky Review: Details and Tasting Notes

Timorous Beastie is a Speyside blended scotch Whisky

In Douglas Lang’s Words: Timorous Beastie Whisky

The original Timorous Beastie, immortalised in Robert Burns’ famous Scots poem “To a Mouse” was a timid, little field mouse. Echoing our national bard’s wit, ours is most certainly not for the fainthearted!

Timorous Beastie captures the essence of The Highlands; a marriage of the region’s finest Malts including Dalmore, Glengoyne and Glen Garioch. It is, of course, proudly without colouring or chill-filtration and bottled at 46.8% alcohol, resulting in an oily, chewy spirit that brings an incredible mouth-feel.

Timorous Beastie Whisky Review: OVERALL

Timorous Beastie Whisky Review

The Timorous Beastie Whisky is a light and unassuming whisky that, quite simply, “does its job” and goes home. It delivers a bit of fruit and malt and then it scampers back off to its burrow leaving you saying “well that wasn’t unpleasant” and nothing more… because there isn’t much more to it. And that’s where we find ourselves right now… out of words to describe this simple and inoffensive whisky.
