Time for Pastels.

Time for Pastels.
I've been trying to switch my makeup routine up a little. I started falling into a rut where I was consistently doing the whole "dewey skin meets lashes" look and sometimes I took the time and energy to slap a lipstick on. Finding a solid lip color to define your daily mental state that also looks flattering can be quite exhausting right? Plus, for the greater part of the last 3-4 months I was seriously lacking some creative juices. I pushed myself too far. I was working too much, I wasn't spending quality time with friends or my boyfriend, I had just moved and had a cluttered space, and I wasn't being physically active. I felt like a zombie waking up each day to do what I needed to do in order to fill my bank account and better yet, build a savings. While that's all very adult like and responsible of me, I found myself so unhappy. Since then, I've made some much needed changes.

I found a killer yoga center down the street from my new residence where they hold all different levels of yoga classes and other strengthening and toning classes they refer to as their Skullpt classes. I've been going for a good week now and I'm in love with it. I'm on day 6 of yoga and have 2 skullpt classes under my belt and I can't believe I ever let myself get this out of shape. I'm already feeling amazing. I also had a larger break in between my makeup classes so I've been able to get back to a normal schedule for a while and focus on taking care of myself, spending quality time with the people I love, and taking freelance jobs whenever I'm able to. Once I started focusing on all the things in life that truly matter, I've become so much happier and better yet, more inspired. As via my blog, I'm sure you've noticed.

This is the first time I've featured my new do on the blog straight instead of curly. What do you think? I happen to love it. My natural hair hasn't been this long in forever. With Spring makeup trends on the horizon I thought I'd feature an eyeshadow I'm currently crazy about.  I love the matte velvet texture and the bright yet soft pop of color. I paired the shade with a solid eye liner, lashes and Shu Uemura's BG 907 for a nude touch.

Eyeshadow: Velvet Pistachio from Bare Escentuals

Lashes: Ardell, available at CVS, Walgreens, Sally's, Target, and Ulta.
Lips: Shu Uemura BG 907
How has the new year treated you? Have you been centering yourself and focusing on the things that really make you happy?
