Three Killed, 35 Injured in Twin Blasts Outside MQM Office in Karachi

Karachi mapAt least three people were killed and 35 others injured when two back-to-back blasts near Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) unit of office of in Azizabad area of Karachi.

Three security personnel, cameraman and driver of a private news channel, women and children were among the injured.

According to sources, the first blast, which was reportedly placed in a rickshaw, exploded at  about  8:55 PM near MQM Unit 153 office located in Azizabad Block 8, just two kilometers away from its headquarter Nine Zero.

The second blast, which the reports said was strapped around a motorcycle, occurred in the same area about 30 minutes later, when rescuers, law enforcement agencies personnel and media representatives thronged the attack site.

The blasts caused a power outage and prompted the business closure. The window panes of the building surrounding buildings were shattered due to the intensity of blast.

The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility blasts.

Hospital sources said several injured are in critical condition and have been shifted to the operation theater of emergency room.

President Asif Ali Zardari, MQM chief Altaf Hussain, and several other prominent political leaders have strongly condemned the blasts.
