Thirsty Thursday: Party Like a Pineapple

By Raymondleejewelers @raymondleejwlrs

It’s almost Friday, but let’s start the weekend a little early, shall we? A time change and Halloween recovery does tend to throw one out of whack, and nothing can remedy that like bright colors, big gems, and a jigger of rum (or two.)

It’s November, so around the country things are cooling off. In South Florida, this is when things just start to heat up. “Season” is upon us, and in flock our annual snowbirds; friends from up North we haven’t seen since they fled the mugginess in May, ready to celebrate the holiday season with the flair that only people who haven’t been truly warm in 6 months can muster.

With galas, benefits and holiday parties already filling up calendars, all eyes turn to what accessories are in this year. And after the summer of 2015, I can confidently say that nothing had a “moment” like the pineapple.

A symbol of hospitality, a tropical mainstay and generally-agreed-upon most fabulous fruit, the pineapple blew up this summer. It popped up all over Pinterest and Instagram in staged shoots, children’s birthday parties, and bloggers’ short shorts. Lest you worry about jumping on a trend way, way too late, just remember – the rules don’t apply in Palm Beach.

Just like it’s kosher to wear white year-round, just like your friends in Ft. Lauderdale have never heard of a closed toe shoe, and just like Floridians will never feel the frustration of tights that get a run in them mid-Nae Nae, the pineapple is perennial here. Never went out of style, just ask Lilly Pulitzer.

So, to carry it into fall is a no brainer. And it starts, as all great things do, with a cocktail.

Pumpkin Pineapple Cocktail

This pumpkin pineapple cocktail may seem like an odd combo at first, but I figured that adding a dash of a more familiar fall flavor would calm any nerves. The pineapple adds brightness and sweetness to the typically heavier flavors of pumpkin, dark rum and fall spices.

Citrine cocktail ring - like a pineapple party on your finger!

Cocktail number two is unapologetically bright, tropical, and flamboyant – everything you’ve come to love and expect from a pineapple.

Citrine Pineapple cocktail ring

This 14 karat white gold, diamond, citrine, garnet and ruby ring is so much fun. From every angle! It featuresRound brilliant diamonds weighing approximately 0.10ctw, diamonds are H/I in color and SI in clarity.  Champagne diamonds weighing approximately 0.56ctw, diamonds are champagne in color and SI in clarity.

Amazing vintage cocktail ring

The colorful stones are as follows:1 Oval Citrine gemstone measuring approximately 12.80mm x 17.87mm, 6 Green Garnet gemstones measuring approximately 5.77mm x 4.04mm each, and 24 Ruby gemstones weighing approximately .24ctw. Now, what to wear with it?

Pineapple print dress in black and white

One bonus to the pineapple heyday being “so 3 months ago” = markdowns. This sweet sleeveless fit and flare dress is marked down to a ridiculous $30, and the large scale and black and white pineapple print make it more chic and fall-appropriate. The muted palette is the perfect backdrop to a statement-maker like the ring, and the silhouette is a classic – just like the pineapple is in South Florida. Don’t call it a comeback.
