Third Week on okCupid

By Elliemendz @EllieMendz
Hey There:
OK, on last week's update I didn't have much to tell and decided to do a complete profile makeover. Put new pictures, wrote new stuff and had a guy friend review and critique it...and boy did he. I made several changes to it, especially on things that made me look like a intellectual snob who spends her time eating. He approved the pictures I selected and finally gave me the blessing. And I don't know, I see it and still think I look like I'm full of myself, but this week I've been getting lots more messages.
In the meantime, I'll be having a second date with the guy I went out with last week and since we still e-mail and text he deserves a name now: FirstOne, since he was the FirstOne who I went out with once I decided to end my dating fast and also the FirstOne from this dating site.
One thing I like about okCupid is that it gives you a more or less accurate information on compatibility based on a bunch of questions made by either the site of its members. But unlike other matching sites, you can still go ahead and contact someone even if you already know it might not work. For example:
I received a message from an Indian guy (55% Match, 47% Friend, 49% Enemy) for some reason Indian guys really like Latinas, maybe the similarities between our cultures and looks, who knows. But in case anyone is thinking about going out on dates with Indian guys my suggestion would be to make sure you know how long they've been in the U.S.
If they've been here for less than 2 years, expect some differences in the way they will treat the date. As an example, I met someone for an early dinner and as we sat down he only ordered water since he had already eaten. Also punctuality has been an issue in my personal experience.
But regardless, it's always fascinating to meet people from other cultures and it can be surprising as to how much we are all alike. Another good thing about Indian guys is that they are very respectful and keep their hands to themselves, so you might have to make the first move or really encourage him.
I've had other messages that are not really worth detailing here, but I can finally say I'm out there.
