So where did we get to. Ok, so we've seen the preparations and the ceremony. Next our guests were taken to the reception venue by Route Master, while Jon and I hop into our Morris Minor just in time to escape the rain.
We made a quick stop at Prior Park Landscape Gardens, where we got engaged, to take a few snaps. Prior Park is absolutely stunning, and with a few clouds in the sky, the weather was just right for Jake to capture these beautiful shots.
The reception was held at Priston Mill, in their Tythe Barn. It was just what we had been looking for. Simple, but with character, and room to add our own stamp on the place. We wanted the day to be very personal to us, and to really represent our personality as a couple. We tried to do as much as we could ourselves, including collecting 100 tea cup trios, arranging the table flowers the day before the wedding, making all of our own stationery and creating play lists for each section of the day. We had lots of help from the parents setting up this place, and some wonderful finishing touches, too. Between them, our parents made bunting, cake, confetti, a sixpence ring and some amazing J & J marquee style lights.
Music was very important for us. We knew we needed some brass instruments, and more than anything we just wanted to have a good party. So we splashed out a little on our band, but we got lots of bang for our buck. During the drinks reception we had a 20's-esque swing set from the St. Louis Strollers. In the evening they transformed into the Gold Diggers Brass Band for some up-tempo brass covers of funk, soul and pop classics. We're both big fans of the Hackney Colliery Band, and although we couldn't quite stretch to getting all of them there, having the Gold Diggers play at our wedding was a massive treat. They even let me have a go on their sousaphone!
And with the speeches, cake cutting and first dance out of the way (phew!), it was finally time to party...
