Many travelers have at one time or another stayed on an executive club floor within a hotel and quite often for business reasons. A recent stay at The Ritz Carlton Sanya would offer the opportunity to experience their club level within their resort environment as opposed to a city hotel. My four day stay in Sanya left me with such wonderful memories of this particular club lounge and their truly genuine team who manage the expectations of all their guests.

My first experience with a Ritz-Carlton Club lounge was at their property in Sydney over 15 years ago, and although the hotel is no longer there, the club impression is still with me, it was amazing. So arriving in the afternoon to the wonderful island of Hainan, checking in and then sitting back for a cool refreshment in the 450 square meter lounge, I was fortunate to meet with Gloria a key member of the Club team and who was going to make this club experience a true Ritz Carlton experience.

The level of English in the Club is extremely good, allowing for the exchange of information, including the best way to use the resort as well as an explanation of the endless 5 food and beverage presentations the club lounge team puts out for the lounge guests throughout the day. Gloria, who studied in Australia at Monash University is a Hainan native, she has this infectious smile so you easily see, that Gloria embodies The Ritz Carlton motto “Ladies and Gentleman serving Ladies and Gentleman”. These are global concierges, meeting with global visitors and engaging with them on more than local topics doing a first rate job. Adding to the team they have a Chef attending guests during lunch and evening with a specialty dish that reflects the local area and fine restaurants within the resort.

At The Ritz-Carlton Sanya resort you will find families using the club lounge and this is due in part to The Ritz Carlton Sanya having such a first rate Ritz Kids Club on the property. With families the team excels to ensure all guests whether family or non-family never feel over looked. They sweep into action the moment a family with children arrives. One evening a couple with twin boys came to the club for a snack, for us this was unusual to see identical twin Chinese boys, they were around 2 years old. The staff was able to bring without question the right plates, drink and support cushions for the boys to sit at the table with their parents.

As an individual female traveler when the concept of the club lounge first came into existence I thought they were the best asset a hotel could have. Then as the years passed, you could see hotels that built large spaces for executive guests began to cut staff, cut services until the lounge became an empty space, some with just self-service coffee, light snacks, cocktails and canapés at the end of the day. Not so at the Ritz Carlton Sanya, the team that staffs this club lounge absolutely make it memorable, they are dealing with guests from Europe, Russia, Asia and of course China, it really is “Ladies and Gentleman serving Ladies and Gentleman”.
