Following the theme of yesterday’s entry, I thought this song would be perfect. I’m not really a Katy Perry fan but this acoustic version isn’t so bad. People are agreeing because it’s becoming more favorable over the original.
The One That Got Away was released in October of 2011 from her third studio album, Teenage Dream. It went to #3 on Billboard’s Hot 100, #2 on Canada’s Hot 100, and was also successful in several other countries including Belgium, Brazil, Poland, and Hungary among others. The acoustic version was released over iTunes on January 16, 2012.
In an official statement Perry released through her label, “I think that everyone can relate to this song. I wrote it about when you promise someone forever, but you end up not being able to follow through. It’s a bittersweet story. Hopefully, the listener learns from hearing it and never has to say they had ‘The One’ get away.”
