I don’t know if anyone’s noticed, but there’s been quite a few tags popping up on here lately! They’re just a bit of fun! I saw this tag over on the lovely Katie’s blog at Plus Beauty – go and follow her. Now.
If you don’t know what the one and only tag is, you basically have to pick your favorite product from your makeup stash (or hoard) for each category – I think it sounds a lot easier than it is!
Primer - Maybelline Baby Skin – Instant Pore Eraser
I love this stuff. I’ve spoken about it before in ‘Top 5 Drugstore Primers’. It really works and makes a difference, especially around my nose.
Foundation – Maybelline – Super Stay Better Skin in ‘021 Nude’
This was quite a hard category to choose just one! I settled on this one because I use it a lot more than my other favorite (Revlon Colourstay in ‘150 Buff’). Two reasons really – I’ve been wearing fake tan lately and the Maybelline matches me when I’m tanned, and the Revlon one is really high coverage which I only use if I go somewhere nice… but because I’m pretty much a hermit I never wear it!
Concealer – Collection 2000 – Lasting Perfection Concealer in ‘Fair’
I think everyone loves this concealer! Obviously Boing by benefit was the first concealer that came to mind, but I don’t use that on a daily basis because… well, it’s expensive! I really like the coverage and consistency of the Collection one. I need to get a shade darker for when I’m tanned though! It’s funny how it’s called ‘Lasting perfection’ but the writing and everything rubs off of the tube within about a fortnight.
Powder – Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent
This was Katie’s favorite powder too! I put this all over my face, but mainly concentrating on my forehead where I get super shiny. I dust it on at about 7:40am and it keeps me matte until about 8pm! Love this.
Blush – Look Beauty – Make Me Blush in ‘Shade 4, Rosy’
This blusher has a slight shimmer to it but you can hardly notice it when it’s on. It’s not super pigmented either which I think I prefer – I don’t like to walk around looking embarrased all day!
Highlighter - L’Oreal Illuminating Powder
I tired to get a picture of a swatch I did on my hand but the camera won’t pick it up! I think this is the first L’Oreal product I’ve ever owner – don’t know why! I love this! It has a really subtle sheen but you can build it up pretty easy!
Bronzer – Makeup Revolution – Baked Bronzer in ‘Ready to Go’
I’ve spoken about this bronzer before so i wont get into it – I still love it though! Read about it here.
Brows - MUA – Power Brow
I don’t have any of this left to show you! The picture below is from the Superdrug website. I really like this eyebrow product – it’s a kind of wax crayon one end and then a brow highlight the other end. The only problem is that I get through it so quickly! For £3 I can’t really complain… but I’ve decided to go back to the ol’ Rimmel brow pencil to see if I like it as much – it’ll certainly last longer!
Eyeshadow – Makeup Revolution – Salvation Palette in ‘Run Boy Run’
It only says eyeshadow, so I’m going to assume that I can pick a whole palette like Katie did! I love this palette. I’ve spoken about it before in this post. I use it every day!
Eyeliner – Collection 2000 – Lasting Colour Gel Liner and Rimmel London – Glam Eyes
I’ve allowed myself two liners for this! I I use the gel for doing along my lash line and I use the liquid one for drawing in a sharp flick! So, since they have different uses… I’m allowed!
Mascara – Maybelline – The Falsies in ‘Flared Black’
This was hard, since I don’t like this mascara on it’s own. I have two others that I alternate putting on first and then I put this over the top! I don’t think I’ve found one mascara that I think makes my lashes look decent by itself!
Lipstick – Rimmel London – Kate Moss ’30’
This isn’t my all time favorite lipstick, but I really love it at the moment! It’s what I was wearing in the photos in my Hair Journey post!
Nail Varnish – Rimmel London – 60 Seconds in ‘831 Magic Stardust
Now, this was originally meant to be your favorite lipgloss but I never wear lipgloss, so I changed it to nail polish! Because I always wear a pair of gloves when I’m working I can wear nail varnish again! I usually always opt for a shade of red but I’ve been branching out lately and trying to use some of the colours in my collection! (You can check out that post here). I don’t know if it’s the time of year or quite whats making me do it, but I’m putting a glitter top coat over everything! I have it on in the picture above.
Brush – Real Techniques Stippling Brush
I think everyone and their mother has this brush. There’s no question as to why though! This has seriously changed the overall look of my makeup – no more patches!
