Apple introduced the Touch ID sensor with the iPhone 5S: it is actually a fingerprint scanner, which adds an additional layer of protection to your smartphone.

The new iPad could come with the Touch ID sensor.

According to a recent report, Apple is planning to equip its upcoming iPad with the Touch ID sensor, too. A French iOS developer, Pierre Blasquez, found hints for this feature in the Touch ID code of the iOS 7.1. Earlier this month, it was predicted that the sensor would arrive to both the iPad and the iPad Mini and it now seems like we might be seeing it sooner that we’d thought.

Apple is yet to confirm anything, as the company seems to be concentrating on the iWatch at the moment. The new iPad should see the light of the day by the end of the year, most likely October, given the fact that Apple released the iPad Air at that time last year.

The iPad Air comes with a 9.7in display and a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels, a 1.3GHz dual-core Apple A7 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16/32/64/128GB of storage and a 5-megapixel rear camera.

What do you think the new iPad will look like? Will it be similar to the iPad Air or completely different?
