The New Season Edit - A/W 2012 (Part 1)

By Fashion Rhetoric
Well it seems that Autumn may well be upon us, after the glorious summery temperatures of the other week, yesterday and today have seen a definite change in the weather- does it ever stop raining in this country?? Apparently not!!
Ah well, this is a great excuse for me to share with you a few of the up-coming trends that I have fallen in love with for Autumn/Winter 2012 and really want to incorporate into my wardrobe over the coming weeks.
(I do have to disclose that these mood boards were inspired by the layout of the A/W2012 boards over at Missguided.co.uk- I really like the way they presented their trends and available items and I half-hinched the idea for my own take on some different trends).

Now it's probably not much of a surprise for those who know me, that I would be captivated by the spikes and studs trends that are everywhere. I am like a bloody magpie in some respects- see something shiny and my eye is drawn followed closely by a "ooooh me likely". I think in some respects it is to do with my rock chic/punk attitude that underpins my personal style. (I do miss my silly coloured hair!!). So when these type of trends come round, I'm in my element.
I've been saying for a while that I'm going to get back into customising clothes again, I used to do it all the time; but like with lots of things, life and circumstance got in the way and I stopped. The spike and stud trend is an easy an fool-proof way back into D.I.Y-ing. (So stay tuned for some D.I.Y posts coming up over the next few weeks).

Country Squire is a new trend for me, now I seem to have developed a thing for tweed. It's not a fabric that I have particularly favoured much in the past, due to its dull an dreary connotations. But maybe it is because I'm nearing that big 3-0 (in the next 6 months aaaaaargh!!) it seems a bit less frumpy to me these days and I find myself saying that I wouldn't mind a tweed jacket. (Odd how things change isn't it??).
In fact I saw this gorgeous tweed blazer last week in H&M whilst out shopping and have decided it will be mine. It is unfortunately missing the ubiquitous elbow patches, but not to worry I have sourced some amazing deep lavender leather elbow patches that I am going to add to it- like I just said, I want to be more creative and customise more so here is another great opportunity to do so.
I also inherited a brand new pair of leather gloves a few months back (similar to those featured above in the mood board) that will be perfect for this country squire trend. Can't wait to wear them!!

Despite being an avid Chelsea fan and usually hating all things red around this time of year (Manchester United), this September I am going to be donning the bold color and wearing it with pride. As I sit here writing this post, this fiery hue has already began creeping into my daily dressing in the form of playful bright accessories of scarlett.
I personally think this trend will really come into it's own during Christmas time. (Dare I say it- it's only 99 days). As red is a truly conventional colouring of the festive period that, despite returning year after year, never dates and instead somehow always looks fresh, modern and up-to-date. A genuine classic that suits most and warms up a cold wintery complexion.

Rock the Baroque is another trend that is a little bit further out of my comfort zone and not something I would ordinarily go for. I've never been a fan of anything gold, in fact I'm 100% a silver girl at heart (or white gold if I'm lucky). So the garish gold guild effect of the baroque trend is an usual thing for me to be drawn to, and yet I keep catching myself liking items heavily embellished with ornamentation or embossed velvets. I can't imagine I am going to deck my wardrobe out fully with this trend but the odd piece here and there would mix things up and make for a refreshing change.
