The New Futures – “Radioactive”

photo_15623Lately I have been in this Alternative mood.  Which has been nice because I feel like the songs for the Alt genre has more depth and meaning then the pop songs.  I got the pleasure of opening my email and seeing that a band called The New Futures just released a EP on iTunes called ‘Radioactive’.  So I downloaded it and I have to say I am so glad that I did.

The New Futures has Chip Reno (bass, backup vocals and keys), Gustavo Carmo (Guitar, backup vocals) and Robert Ray Baker Jr. (Drummer).

The EP starts off with a song called ‘Sunshine’. I am glad they chose this song to start off the EP.  It starts off with this surfer type punk feeling and you can’t help but tap your foot to it.  The lyrics for this song are well written as well.  This whole song was done very well it seems like the minute it started it’s over.  They have a music video for this song which is below.  Please feel free to check it out below.

The next song I want to talk about is called ‘Ocean’.  This one is a nice one to listen to because it has a little bit more of a different tempo then the last two songs on this album.  There is also some harmony going on as well, which was very well done.  This song is a must download!

The song that is right after ‘Ocean’ is called ‘Story’.  Now this song shows the groups more acoustic side.  It’s just the lead singer and a guitar for most of the song.  I love this song!  They even take the time to do harmony as well.  This song is another must download and I really hope this is the next single because I can see this getting them far.

This EP was done how every EP should be!  The band was able to keep the sound they wanted throughout the whole thing.  They were also able to show everyone they can do something fast or they can do something slow which is great!  I am giving this EP a 4/5 stars.
