I always thought this song gave some of the wisest advice about what not to do in life. Don’t ever give your heart to a stranger, don’t tell your secrets to a friend. Don’t put your heart in mortal danger – they all desert you in the end.
Doesn’t that seem logical? I’d like to say it’s more relevant to the teenage & early 20′s lifetime but it’s not. I see as I get older that this stuff always exists. Some things never change. Friends spill secrets, a person breaks your heart and a lot of times you’re betrayed by the ones you never thought would hurt you…
The More You Live, The More You Love was released as a single in September of 1984 from the band’s third album, The Story of a Young Heart. It’s highest chart placement was in the UK at #30. It went to #56 on Billboard’s Hot 100, as well as #32 on Canada’s album charts.
The lyrics describe the hurt that comes along with loving someone. But at the same time, people are helpless against falling in love because the more you live life, the more your heart finds someone to attach to. Human nature which sometimes causes terrible pain.
