Following the first two MO SOUND-BITES event earlier this year featuring Autograf from Chicago and Com Truise from New York, MO Bar at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is bringing its third MO SOUND-BITES electronic music series, on 10 November 2017, presenting a unique performance by the globe-trotting, genre-defying British artist Alex Metric.
Renowned on the international stage as a producer, remixer and DJ at the new frontier of electronic music, the London-born Metric frequently tops the tastemaker charts in the United Kingdom and USA via his own, fresh contemporary sounds deeply rooted in earliest styles of underground dance music, touching on Disco, Funk, Chicago House and Detroit Techno as well as Indie Rock.

Metric could sing and play the keyboard from an early age but says his serendipitous conversion to dance music came when, as a teenager, he once missed the bus home and, killing time in a record shop, heard Fatboy Slim’s 1996 album Better Living Through Chemistry playing.
After studying music at college in Guildford, he released a string of singles featuring a mix of progressive house, breakbeat and techno. Then, in 2006, he signed to Adam Freeland’s marine Parade label. He had an epiphany: to mix all the music he loved. The result was his definitive 2007 single “What She Wants”. He came to prominence in 2008 after being voted “Best Breakthrough Producer” at Breakspoll. Joining BBC Radio 1 as a resident DJ in the “In New DJs We Trust” in 2009.
Metric’s reputation for getting dance floors heaving spread fast and in 2013. He released his legendary Ammunition series for OWSLA with a fresh mechanical beat. With melodies that reinterprets and pays homage to UK dance music. 2014 saw the release of “Hope”, placing Metric on the world stage of contemporary electronic innovation.
2016 saw the start of the artist’s Asia tour taking in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Bali. Earlier this summer he released his new track Freeek. “I am really excited to come back to Hong Kong, one of my favorite cities to visit and be at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong to share my music!” The artist says.
