The Irishman Cask Strength Review

By Josh Peters @TheWhiskeyJug

The Irishman Cask Strength

The Irishman Cask Strength is a single malt, distilled by an unknown distillery, and bottled at cask strength by the Walsh Whiskey company as an annual special release. Aged completely in ex-Bourbon casks it’s a pure expression of the beauty and depth that can be found in Irish Single Malts. Not much else to say about it so let’s get into the nitty gritty sensory details in the review below.

In Walsh Whiskey’s Words: The Irishman Cask Strength

“The Irishman Rare Cask Strength is Ireland’s most exclusive Whiskey, distilled 3 times and carefully aged in American Oak Casks. Each year Bernard Walsh selects a handful of exceptional casks to make this the benchmark for Super Premium Cask Strength Irish Whiskey. It is available in strictly limited quantities with just 3,510 bottles produced in 2017. Each bottle is uniquely numbered and signed. It is reserved for the appreciation of the most discerning judges of Whiskey. The Irishman Rare Cask Strength was a Gold Medal winner in “The Premium Irish Whiskey Category” at The Whiskey Masters. It was also rated a magnificent 94.5 points in Jim Murray’s Whiskey Bible 2010: “Quite exceptional”.”

The Irishman Cask Strength Review – OVERALL

Looking for a pleasant full bodied whiskey that drinks well at 108 proof? Then sink your senses into The Irishman Cask Strength Irish Whiskey! The aroma is a rich delivery of honied fruit and malt, the palate a nuttier delivery of the same and the finish a bit spicy. This is something I could easily enjoy every day of the week.

The Irishman Cask Strength doesn’t expand much with water, but it doesn’t really need to with how exciting and delicious it is right out of the bottle. It does open up in the glass, but I felt like it totally evened out after about 30 minutes. So if you pick it up give it some air, but don’t necessarily expect it to swim.

SCORE: 90/100 (A-)
