The Happiest Vacation We Ever Had.

By Shivam Ralli @shivamralli167
It was time again. Vacations were rare for my family. Dad was always busy with the work in his office. Well, I and my sister being rather persuasive kids: we pestered or family so much that they decided to take us to Goa this year. Why? For a vacation.Well, escaping from the big, boring and tough world of corporate: I just felt happy on the journey to Goa. Yes, my children had pursued me to make this trip: but, now I think I am enjoying more than them. It is like a much needed thing for my body.On the journey to Goa, I realised that my life and my happiness now resided in my children and their betterment. I got down at every station to buy something for them. Many a times: we all got down. My wife and I told our children about the clean air and how fresh it felt on this small station. They listened seriously on each of our words. In all, I think, they loved that small moments. When we reached our desired destination, we went to a hotel in which we already had a reservation. I felt content. All things were going according to plan. When we entered the room, I started feeling good about this vacation. My children started running around the place- searching for nooks and corners (and maybe some hidden trinkets too.) I couldn’t help smiling at their antics: but, who could stop them? They are the gem of our lives. They are so full of innocence that they add well in our lives. The next day, we went to a beach- it was the best time we had had in a while. The huge blue wave coming at us. My heart was in my mouth:  the wave just went over Shrey, my son. When he resurfaced, I scolded him and told him to play near the shore. The moment of agony was over: but the protective feeling never subsided. I was now scared on what will happen next. As if sensing my troubles: they came near me and hugged me. They said they were sorry and that they were at fault. And, that was one moment which made me realize how small and innocent they were. We enjoyed the rest of the vacation: but that is one memory which still haunts me. But, I had let it go back then: I don’t mention it. It was in this vacation, when my children made me feel like a king and made me the happiest man on planet. So: Corporate division, here I come! This was how my dad conquered his troubles and how our family had a marvelous time on that vacation. I hope we go on such vacations. My dad has changed: our family has had the most spectacular event in such a long time.- a work of fiction
