THE SHOWS
The Good Wife Good TV makes you feel like this…good TV makes you feel ridiculous for grieving for someone that doesn't really exist but Will Gardner existed for all of us didn't he? I haven't really felt the tightening of my heart and the kind of anxiety I felt watching last nights episode of The Good Wife in a long time. The tears didn't really stop. Not hysteria, just slow tears consistently dripping down the cheeks for pretty much the entire hour. I always thought that when The Good Wife ended, Alicia and Will would leave together, not one without the other and definitely not this way. Seeing Kalinda, Diane, Alicia and everyone who knew Will deal with his death was upsetting, intense and sort of interesting at the same time. Knowing that many of them aren't ever going to get over his loss just broke my heart and yet…life and business and politics and the law kept going on. Diane fired Will's biggest client, Kalinda dangled death in front of Will's killer but preferred to have him live with his pain instead. Cary was forced to conduct a deposition even though he was just processing the news, and Alicia was just searching for answers. Like her, we all wanted Will's final words to mean something, anything and of course…we'll never know what they meant. Of course through my tears, I was still able to notice a few things. Things like the weird moment David flinched when Diane touched his shoulder. The dual meaning of when Diane told Alicia that she loved Will and Will loved her. Things like the dead body not looking at all like Will. Where did I know Finn from? See…life and the show goes on.
Lindsay I couldn't deal with Resurrection or Oprah's Paycheck to Paycheck Town Hall after The Good Wife. I needed some brainless bullish*t before bed, so I went with Lindsay Lohan instead. The show started out the normal way. Lots of people. Lindsay's surrounded with people. Of course she's got Oprah and if Oprah tells you to stop the nonsense, you stop it. Matt, assistant #1, was finally getting his morning and evening meetings with Lindsay, so he didn't quit like he said he would. Matt fired Hollie, assistant #2, for drinking in front of Lindsay and for being unable to build clothing racks from Bed Bath and Beyond. He also moved Lindsay's Porsche into a garage since she kept on getting parking tickets. He must be exhausted from all the hard work. AJ, Lindsay's health and life coach was up at the apartment getting Lindsay on track, with some breakfast, some list making, and some pole dancing. Lindsay's sober coach was packing it up since his 30 day gig was over. They filmed Lindsay's appearance on Jimmy Fallon and she seemed to have it together. Jimmy was dressed like the little girl character he plays and off camera it was awkward seeing him running around like that. Lindsay's veneer broke off her tooth and there was all sorts of discussion on whether or not to give an addict anesthesia (they gave it to her). Then just when I thought I was in good shape for bed, Lindsay got busy with her community service and we met a little boy named Donovan. Lindsay worked and played with this cutie and when it was time for her to leave, he got teary, she got teary and I got teary. I think it was when he thanked her for hugging him that I lost it. Oy Vey, now I'm crying during Lindsay Lohan. I blame you Will Gardner!
Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Back
I know that most reality shows aren't really real. Scripted reality right? I don't know what to make of the season opener of Joan & Melissa. I do know one thing though. I used to be able to watch it with my 12 year old and now…not a chance. In the season opener, Joan did the Kris Jenner show (before it got cancelled) and was so impressed by the set, the 375 crew members (who are now out of work) and the fact that it all started with Kim Kardashian's sex tape. So much so, that she wanted a piece of the action. I can't believe Joan would want Melissa to be in a sex tape, but she did suggest it and when she turned her Mom down Joan decided SHE was going to make one. COME ON. I know Joan's outrageous, but an 80 year old celebrity sex tape. Is there a market for that? Joan thought so. She researched it, she watched some porn, interviewed naked porn stars, and even held a casting call for her co-star. SUPER AWKWARD! I wasn't laughing, and I wasn't having fun at all. I'm know prude and I love Joan, but I don't need to see an 80 year old woman in bed with Kim's ex. So that's what was going on with Joan. While all that was happening, Melissa's been in a long distance relationship with that super hot British guy, Duncan. Problem is, she's pushing for more from him and he's never leaving London, so there really isn't much of a future there. Melissa kind of broke up with him. For some reason Duncan called Lynn who showed up with her huge saggy boobs hanging out. She got drunk and kissed him. When Melissa came to her senses and showed up at Duncan's hotel room, Lynn was in his bed. That had to be planned right? I doubt anything happened but Melissa's been through enough. Lynn's an idiot. I hope things get better this season. I'm going to be bummed if I end up deleting this Season Pass. Vikings
Okay…the coolest woman on TV has gotta be Lagertha. Any woman that can kick as much viking ass sporting some serious braids is all right by me. That girl can FIGHT. I hope her plan was to leave her son, Bjorn, with his Dad and go back and kill that horrible husband of hers. If she does, it'll free her up to head back to Ragnar where she belongs. These vikings have some crazy good battle skills don't they? An ax in the head from a 100 feet away…pretty impressive. Lots of crazy killing this week. I wonder what they use to get blood stains out of their clothes. There's so much of it all over their faces and clothes. It's very distracting. I'm not sure I totally get what's going on with the priest guy. I really need him back with Ragnar.
THE OTHER STUFF
-GMA news…Josh Elliot, the news anchor is leaving to go to NBC Sports. Current ABC news correspondent, Amy Robach has reportedly been tapped to replace Elliot. First Sam, now Josh and also Cynthia McFadden's leaving Nightline. What's going on over there in the news department?
-Chelsea Handler doesn't want to renew her contract on E! when it expires at the end of the year. She hasn't been happy at the network and hasn't kept that a secret at all. Personally, I couldn't care less where she ends up as I'm really not a fan of hers at all, but I do think it could be interesting business wise. She could do a daily show via Netflix or something other new distribution channel. I'll be paying attention for that reason and that reason only. The options are really endless these days.
-Apparently some fairy tales don't end in happily ever after. ABC cancelled Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. I need to go back and check, but I believe I called this one from the get go. We had all never seen anything like Once Upon a Time that's what made it so cool and different. We all didn't need second option, not when there's so much other good stuff on these days. Do you think the days of the CSI, Law and Order and NCIS franchise type thing are over?
-Syfy gave Helix some good news on Friday and renewed it for another season for all you fans of that one.
-Apparently NPH and Jason Segel have done "The Confrontation" from Les Mis before, but during their appearance with the rest of the cast on Inside the Actors Studio, they performed it again. Check it out…it is Legen…WAIT FOR IT…DARY!
