The Flame by Cheap Trick.

Another one that randomly came to mind today – a love song that captures devotion no matter the distance or hardships that sometimes come along the way. Wherever you go, I’ll be with you. Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you. Whenever you need someone to lay your heart and head upon. Remember after the fire, after all the rain, I will be the flame…

The Flame was released as a single in July of 1988 from the band’s tenth album, Lap of Luxury. The lyrics were written by Bob Mitchell and Nick Graham. It went to #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, the band’s only number one hit in America. It also charted at #1 in Canada and Australia.

The band had previously gone through a commercial slump due to little success with their previous album. This single brought them back into the limelight.

Above is the official video.
