The Do’s

Do wear a high neckline and big, embellished shoulder detailing if you are an athletic shape, as this will draw the attention away from your bust.

Do wear a longer or ‘midi’ body-con dress that ends just above the knee if you have curvaceous Thighs.

Do wear a well-fitting bra and make sure the dress fits you to avoid the squashed and squeezed look.

Do stream-line your body with body-control underwear

Do expose some unexpected flesh with buying a cut-out, strapless, back-less or halter-neck body-con

Do wear a V-neck body-con if you are big busted, this will give your bust more room and will help you avoid looking too heavy on top.

Do remember that some bodycon dresses are sheer, and this means that they need to be worn with underwear of a matching color. This means you won’t have to avoid the flash of the camera all night!

Do wear heavily detailed or patterned body-cons as this will disguise any lumps and bumps.

Do wear some statement items such as a necklace, scarf or blazer if you are feeling self-conscious.

The Don’ts

Don’t wear a body-con dress to the office unless it is ribbed, has panelled designs or is of a thick material, as a body-con with thinner material will cling more to your body-shape which can be a little too revealing for work.

Don’t wear light colours if you are self-conscious about lumps and bumps, opt for a dark maroon, or purple body-con dress if you want to have a colourful dress.

Don’t eat just before you go out in your body-con and try to stick to non-fizzy drinks as bloating is the body-cons worst enemy!

Don’t wear a long-sleeved body-con dress if it is in a light color as you could end up with embarrassing tan and sweat marks.

Don’t wear a white body-con dress if you are going to wear fake tan as the tightness of the dress will make it susceptible to rubbing on your skin.

Don’t wear too short a body-con to a dinner or work party. Shorter body-cons are great for bars and clubs, but can be too revealing for dinner dates, office parties or balls.

Last but not least, DON’T spend too much time in front of the mirror before you go out. The bodycon dress is not for the faint hearted, so don’t over-think it and get out there and show off that figure!
