This is what happened when Chanel launched this limited edition blush in Rouge. I somehow couldn't grab my hands on it (got late) but when it was relaunched, I made a point to run to Chanel and pick it up. Rouge looks like a strawberry - raspberry juice that is solidified and looks like a jelly that is poured into a pan, some edible gold glitter is added and the sold at Chanel (LOL)...This blush is could literally be eaten.Do read about the fabulous Ultra Rose Blush here...So lets see what's so great about this blush...............
Chanel has something to say about the Joues Contraste Blushes............
The touch of color and radiance.PACKAGING
Offers effects from very natural to very sophisticated. Used as a simple touch of colour, it gives your complexion a healthy glow. As a professional tool, it shapes and models your face (cheekbones, browbones, forehead, chin, along the nose).
Manufactured by a process exclusive to CHANEL, the compact and silky texture of JOUES CONTRASTE gives easy application and subtle blending. The brush is made of natural hair.
Highlighting your cheekbones enhances the youthful appearance of your face. For the eye zone, choose a satiny tone to soften and rejuvenate this area.
Use the integrated brush to apply a highlighting touch of JOUES CONTRASTE to cheekbones or accentuate the structure of the face.
'Rouge' like other Joues Contraste blushes comes in the classic Chanel packaging. Let it be the glossy plastic case, the velvet sleeve, the Chanel 'C' embossed emblem and everything is so reminiscent of luxury that Chanel exudes. I love how handy the case is and how easy it is to spot it in someone else's beauty bag too. The built in brush can be handy if the blush is lighter and to be used as highlight or else its much of a waste. If the formula seems to have hardened, the provided brush is good enough to scrape of the product and use (God forbid that does not happen).INGREDIENTSFORMULAJoues Contraste is a baked blush that is carefully placed and stuck into the Chanel cases. Since it is baked, the product looks like a dome (the ingredients are supposed to be done like a cake batter). It is super soft, easy to pick on the brush and a super duper pigmented formula. This means one can go wrong in a jiffy if applied liberally.Rouge has a super soft, extremely pigmented composition with lovely flecks of shimmer that add warmth and glow to the face after the blush is applied. On various degrees of application, the blush can go from sheer to almost a drag-queen-esque look. Its very easy to create disaster with this blush.Rouge is a fragranced blush with strong nuances of Bulgarian Rose and other floral smells and my sensitive nose finds it really strong but not overpowering and overwhelming. COLOR
Rouge is a scarlet red raspberry colored blush with a slight bluish tone (not warm undertone) and frank golden shimmer and flecks in it. On the lightest application which means touching the surface of the blush, the color transforms into a beautiful warm red-pink glow on the face. On fairer pink undertones, this blush would look red while on warmer tones it would look berry pink (due to the bluish tones). This blush would do justice for medium skin colors while it would look amazing on darker skin tones. The golden shimmer would look incredibly beautiful on dark tones. I advice to build up the intensity of this blush to get the right color. I also wanted to share this with all the owners of the 'Rouge Blush'. Do not hesitate to apply the blush over a makeup primer directly and then apply liquid foundation over it and seal it with translucent powder. It gives that amazing glow from within effect and you look so glamorous and pretty.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
I bought mine from the Chanel boutique in Palladium Mall. It is 2550 INR for 4gm. which is a fair amount for a baked blush.
Hope you liked the blush and my review. Do let me know in the comments.
