Bude trip pt 4

Today was a great day. As you know I was in Perranporth and I couldn’t decide between surfing and booging. Well I did both!

I got a big old barn door of a surf board and gave it a bash. I got up a few times, when I say a few I mean a few, drank a lot of sea water and managed to bash myself in the ribs with the board. After an hour of this I thought “sod this”, went back to the chav mobile and grabbed a Sponge. I took the Core out again because I really want to get used to her, but after about ½ an hour it was apparent the bigger NMD was the board of choice. So, another run back to the car to change sticks and got back in the water.

A nice little session really, caught some crackers and had a bloody good time. To be honest I would still be in the water now, but the conditions were getting a bit too gnarly for me and I was just thinking of getting out when the lifeguards got on the loud hailer “Everyone out of the water! It’s getting dangerous”. I headed their instructions, because you can always go surfing another day, you can’t if you’re dead.

So, After getting changed (and somehow managing to soak the inside of my car with sea water even though I was getting changed outside of the car – don’t ask), I headed back to Bude.

I’ve always loved the little village of Boscastle, you may remember it from a few years ago – it was devastated by a freak flood, so as it was on my way back to the campsite I paid it a visit.

I wanted to go into to the Witchcraft Museum there, but on seeing the admission price – £5, I changed my mind. Still I had a wander around the town, bought my son a little present and had a bite to eat.

I’m back at the campsite now after remembering to rinse out my wetty and stuff, I’ve optimistically draped it over the back of my car to air out but I reckon it will be sleeping between my inner and outer tent tonight.
