Growing up in the western part of the world that is largely dominated by Christianity, it’s extremely rare to see to a cosmetic company offering something that appeals to another religious group/holiday such as that of Islam…
So when I recently saw that The Body Shop was offering a “Countdown to Eid Calendar” for Muslims, I thought wow!! Great job Body Shop on the Eid Calendar product. It’s not only thinking a bit outside of the box, it caters to a large Muslim population and it’s something that has never been done before (or at least to my knowledge) by a cosmetic company in the western part of the world. It’s basically a “countdown calendar” box, like those chocolate calendars you see during Christmas, that has little windows in Arabic numerals that opens up to scents, lotions, and other skin and beauty products. Each window represents the days of Ramadan, last being the last day of Ramadan. I have personally never seen a beauty company ever do this, so this was pretty wicked. For now, the Countdown Eid Calendar is only offered for a limited time in the UK though but it’s totally available in the Middle East!
Also, get this… every purchase of these calendars help a child from a war-torn country get an education. I honestly believe access to education can free people from poverty and open up many doors for them. So I was also a huge fan of this!
Unfortunately, I live in Canada and will not have access to this. However, if you are able to get a hold of them, it’s definitely something worth considering, as the proceeds do go towards a good cause!
