The Big Chop Diaries: Rocking Your TWA With Style!

By Ipage @xquisite_curls
Personally speaking, the aspect of the Big Chop that I am most concerned with at the moment is STYLE. My normal, relaxed hair style was pretty basic. I am not a girly-girl by any means. For example, I don't/can't/don't want to wear heels. I just can't do it. I'm definitely more of a casual flats/jeans type of woman. Comfort will always and forever trump style for me. That's not to say that I don't like to look good and well put together, but the less fuss the better. But this now has to change now that I have a Teeny Weenie Afro (TWA). It's very easy to look kind of...unfeminie, in my opinion, if you're not careful. If that's the look you're going for then great! If not, it's time to maximize your femininity.
I decided to focus on accessories. They have the power to transform outfits, and they are the easiest and most cost-effective way to update your wardrobe. So I have been searching jewelry sites and stores. I gotta tell you, I'm just not impressed. I feel like I need things that are funky and unique, to match my new 'do ;). I have found a few things online that I have added to my Pinterest style board. Then I came across a YouTube video about making your own jewelry and a light bulb went off! I can make my own jewelry that will directly reflect my personal style. So I ran out to Michael's craft store and got some different charms and pieces to make into earrings. I will update this blog with pics of my creations :)
I also decided that I will experiment more with eye makeup. I don't wear much besides mascara, and I want my eyes to really be the focal point of my face. A few of my other ideas:
- Making my own hair clips
- Dying my hair, even though I will wait until my hair is healthier
- Cute beanie hats
- Brooches and pins to attach to scarves
What ideas do you have for enhancing your personal style after the Big Chop?
