The best way to use gaudy motifs for party decor and how you can make work them into your party decor to your advantage isn't as difficult as it may seem.
Why not "go gaudy"? You like a lot of gold-tone accents? Then go for the gold. You like big, rather ostentatious things to display? Do it; use them.
There are no real party don'ts -- except for what doesn't look good to you.
There are very few professionally produced parties (especially parties held in private homes) that exist in small spaces that aren't artfully arranged with bookcases and books, vases, busts, plates, figurines, sketches, paintings and other items.
As a decor-junkie/party planner/event planner, you learn to elegantly place things on every surface while making it look as if somethings missing and only you know what it is.
Shoot for an anthropological looking collection of things; this makes the space look extremely interesting - especially when you want the decor "story" to reflect what it's like to be an Aborigine or an Italian.
It's making your party space an exhibit area, one that spells historic and contemporary along with expensive and cheap, and practical and extravagant.
Why not go all the way?
I mean, you could place a jar of pasta next to a giant Campari bottle, next to Ferragamo shoes, next to a nude portrait.
And if you can pull this off -- while making everything look aesthetically pleasing, well... you've mastered the best way to use gaudy motifs for party decor. And, that's a true party decor art form unto itself.
Hey, it's nice to eSee you here on Cater-Hater!
Weigh in and tell me, what were some of your most interesting party decor combinations? Did you feel you created the look that you were going for? Or, was this a misinterpretation of something you hoped would turn out to be absolutely divine?
Be sure to share the details; you're helping everyone when you explain things well.
Thank you for stopping by!
Much love to you...
