The Bathroom of the Future

Every year we see hundreds of “Top 10” lists about new technology that you can’t live without. New technology goes hand in hand with phones and other similar gadgets. There’s always a new Bluetooth device or phone update. What’s a lot less common is technology updates to your home. With voice recognition technology, Bluetooth, and other general tech advancements, your home is the next logical step in updating your lifestyle. It’s easy to overlook the bathroom. Adding technology to your toilet seems kind of weird? However, we’re here to tell you that there are some upgrades available that will make you totally rethink what your bathroom can do for you. These upgrades marry form and function, as well as better hygiene.

Showers & Bathtubs

We’ll start with shower and bathtub technology because those are arguably the most relaxing places in the bathroom!

A trend that is only becoming more popular is waterproof TV’s! Seaura is a brand that is engineering televisions to be water resistant. That means that they won’t fog or be damaged by moisture. You’ll be able to binge watch as many episodes of The Office as you can without getting too pruney.

Digital showers are also making their rounds on the high tech trend circuit. Everyone has dealt with the issue of getting the perfect water temperature in the shower. It’s a constant struggle between unbearably hot, and freezing cold. I know there have been countless times I wished I could just snap my fingers and find the perfect temperature. While it’s still not quite that easy, it’s getting pretty close! With new digital shower technology, you have the ability to keep your perfect shower temperature as a preset. Not only that, but if you’re conscious about saving water (which you probably should be) there are options that allow you to set a timer and reminders that let you know how long you’ve been showering. Showering is already a pretty basic task, but it just got a little easier!

Another interesting technology that’s growing in popularity is chromotherapy in showers and baths. Chromotherapy is the science of using colors to adjust body vibrations that result in positive impacts to your mental and physical health. It seems kind of crazy but worst case scenario, you have a futuristic shower with some sweet interchangeable lights. Sounds cool to me!

If fun healing colors weren’t enough, find your favorite playlist and sync your phone to your shower head! Sounds ridiculous, right? Listening to music and singing in the shower is a classic pastime. The only issue is having to turn your music up loud enough to hear it over the shower. By the time you get your speaker to the right volume, you’re probably bugging everyone else in the house. Not anymore! There are a bunch of shower head options available that allow you to play music straight from the shower head! You won’t have to compete with the noise from the shower because the music is right next to you. There’s a lot of upgrades that are a little pricey, but this is one that you can easily add to your bathroom, even if you’re on a budget!

Toilets & Hardware

Now we’ll move on to toilets! The toilet technology advancements are definitely my favorite out of all the bathroom appliances. The majority of tech upgrades have been focused on improving bathroom hygiene, always a good call. I like to look at it this way, if you get something gross on your hand or arm, do you just wipe it with a paper towel until it’s gone? No! That’s unhygienic. So why do we do that every time we use the restroom? That’s why bidets and similar toilets are the future!

Since you saved so much money on your Bluetooth shower head, why not splurge on one of the most expensive toilets available! Check out the Numi from Kohler. This toilet will run you about $8,000 but the features are endless. Cold feet? The numi has a foot and seat heater that will keep you toasty during cold early mornings. If you absolutely can’t use the bathroom without music, don’t fret, this toilet has Bluetooth capabilities so you can sync your phone and play music, or store your favorite songs on the SD card the toilet takes. Of course you won’t be the only one using this toilet, what if someone messes with your favorite bathroom settings? You’ll be able to save up to six presets, so you’ll always be able to use your favorite rinsing method. After all that, I’m sold!

As I mentioned before, one of the biggest perks of these futuristic bathroom furnishings, is the increased attention to hygiene. Hand sensor faucets have been staples of strip malls and restaurants for years. Most of those are low quality and unreliable. The real is the Hansa Murano X. Not only do you not have to touch anything with dirty hands, it’s also really really cool looking. The water flows out in a water curtain format, very futuristic. It also has a sensor that turns on a soft LED light when you get near it.

The Smart Mirror

Finally, one of the most high tech bathroom features we’ve been able to locate, the smart mirror! The technology is very similar to that of a tablet. Except much bigger. Seaura offers a one of a kind smart mirror experience. Their technology offers hands free control as well as a guarantee there will be no cracks or water damage. This is one of the coolest and easiest ways to stay up to date on your schedule and the news, all while getting ready. If you don’t feel like you have anything to catch up on, download the Netflix app and watch your favorite show while you get ready! It doesn’t stop quite there. The smart control that comes with the operating system gives you the ability to control the whole house. You’ll be able to view security cameras, adjust lights, and even open the garage door. All from the comfort of your bathroom. The future is really here!
