The 5 Minute, 6 Product Get-your-face-on Beauty Routine

By Yourfamilysurvivalcoach @shari_brewer

We all know that mornings can be hard work. Really, really hard work. And some mornings are even worse than that!

With 3 kids to get ready, a cat to feed and a mountain of household-related duties to perform in a disproportionately small amount of time, I do find that getting myself from bed to door-ready in a timely fashion is something of a challenge.

I know that I’m not alone. Many mums that I talk with say exactly the same thing. Mornings are frantically spent getting everyone else in the household ready and organised but what about mum?

On the days that I head off to work, it’s important for me to look, you know, decent. Best not scare my colleagues and the school kids away I’m reasoning. In my role there’s certainly no need for me to go all out and dress-up in anything fancy schmancy but I figure a wipe of make up is essential to hide the shabbiness of what is always too little sleep!

Over time I think that I’ve almost perfected the super-quick and little bit lazy make up routine. It takes around 5 minutes, only requires 6 basic products from start to stop and the end result is me being able to step out of the house feeling presentable.

1. For daywear I like to use a simple tinted moisturiser as a base. It gives a bit of sheer coverage to even the skintone without looking too overdone. This Garnier BB cream is what I’m currently into but Nivea and the Cancer Council do great ones as well.

2. The second step is a quick pat of pressed powder or a brush of loose powder if that’s your preference. For me just a light dusting on my nose, forehead and across the cheeks is enough. You may even be able to skip this step. Woohoo – faster still!!

3. A touch of colour on the cheeks is a must. It disguises the I’ve been up all night with a 2 year old look I’d otherwise be wearing. I’ve found that sticking to the same tried and true blush colour streamlines the whole makeup routine for me.

4, For my eyes, I use my blush colour as a very quick and super easy base and then run a slick of silver eyeliner across the top lid just to seal the deal. Easy as. Quick and not too heavy looking for a day face.

5. Lovely lashes with a quick brush of a favourite mascara. Looking good, with time to spare! Almost done.

6. A slick of lip gloss across the smackers and you’re good to grab the car keys and run!  Ready. To. Go.

If you have a morning face routine to share, I would love to hear from you! Are you into the lazy-lady way, like me?

;)
