It's all about awareness.
People need to be aware that cloth diapers are out there and kicking butt! They need to see how many people there are that made the decision to cloth diaper. They need to see how easy the diapers are to use and what cute prints they come in now! This event is all about spreading the good word about fluff!
I attended the change in Syracuse which was organized by the cloth diaper shop, Basic Baby. There were many local vendors there and we spent some time browsing and picking up brochures. I also bought a cute teething necklace since Baby J is in a chew-on-everything stage.
Waiting around for the change to start. Silly boys!
When it was time for the change, all of the parents and babies entered a room and were counted carefully by the officials. We had to wait a while for everyone to file in and for the change to actually start. That meant for a lot of antsy babies. There was a photo taken right before the change with everyone holding their diapers in the air. Then we counted down and changed those hineys! (I was trying to win a GroVia AIO so I hurried to change Baby J's to be one of the first 1,000 to send a photo of myself changing him into one of their diapers. No shame!) Then we all lifted those fluffy butts in the air for another photo.Besides raising cloth diaper awareness, this event made me feel proud. I looked around at all of the parents that were making similar choices for their children as we do and I was so happy. It felt nice to be a part of this. I had so much fun and can't wait to do it again next year!
I want to get going, Mom!
