Teach Me Something

Edie (one of my flower-crown wearers) took me to Plato for a late birthday present. The most amazing seafood and service...and look at all these crazy little nick-nacks! I was obsessed!

Teach Me Something

My incredible birthday gift from Edie. The ultimate Italian cooking bible, good extra virgin olive oil and balsamic, and the most delish Pinot Noir. Food. Porn.

Teach Me Something

My beautiful dinner date.

Teach Me Something

Another amazing birthday gift from Niki. You know you're getting older when you can't wait to come home after an amazing dinner to drink tea from your gorgeous teacup and read your Italian cook book in bed. Bliss.

I am starting a new segment here on Sweet Apple, called Teach Me Something. I'm an internet addict. Don't worry, I do manage to enjoy the outdoors also, but, my nightly routine is to spend an hour or so scouring the net, after which I read my book and go to sleep. It has become an incredible way to unwind after a day of stats. So, each Monday I am going to share with you what I have learned over the week. If you find anything cool that you think Sweet Apple followers might like, email me! Enjoy.

Feed Me

I want to try this Parmesan flatbread with dandelion and green onion pesto. Partly because it sounds amazing, but also because I have never tried dandelion and I am intrigued.
You may remember that I have been teaching myself to cook decent Italian food. I watch Kitchen Boss on the Food Channel, and he made the most amazing margarita pizza that I attempted last week. I also made the sauce and bases from scratch. It was phenomenal. Sorry for the average pic, but the man and I devoured it before I could fire up the Lumix.

Inspire Me

PhD should stand for pressure, hard work and dread. Sorry to sound melodramatic, but I am coming into the final few months of my contract and it is a stressful time. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw the title of Kelly McGonigal's ted talk, how to make stress your friend. I also love this post about finding peace with uncertainty, by Leo Babauta.

Read Me

Next on my list of books to read is Sylvia Path's, The Bell Jar. Enjoy some beautiful quotes from the book here. I especially love the quote about the green fig tree.

Beautify Me

My favorite product at the moment is Benefit lip and cheek tint. I have both the red and the pink. It just gives a natural flush to the lips and cheeks. I pop a couple of coats on to deepen the color. Learn how to apply cheek stain here. The video is cheesy, but informative. For my kiwis, if you live outside of Auckland, you can buy benefit products here. I also like this natural & glowing 10 minute make-up tutorial, as I prefer to keep my make-up look as natural as possible.

Show Me

I love this tumblr, Visualgraphic. I can scan it for hours. I like the idea of printing off a few of the designs and putting them in frames with big boarders to give my house that New York loft feel. Kind of like this room here.

Amaze me

A friend of mine shared this article on facebook. Amazing photos of the growing gap between two tectonic plates.

W...T...F

Knickers that block fart odour. This is also a facebook share. My friend was hinting to her boyfriend. But what cracked me up, was a comment posted on this link, making a very decent point. Imagine posing for this photo shoot. As I pictured it, I couldn't help but have a very enjoyable belly laugh. I hope you do too.
Now you're linked up! Go enjoy the day.
Much love XXX
