Tahir-ul-Qadri’s ECP Reconstitution Petition Hearing Today

Tahir-ul-QadriThe Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear Tehreek-e-Minhaj ul Quran chief Dr Tahir-ul- Qadri’s petition, filed for the reconstitution of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), on Monday.

Headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, a three-member bench will hear the case.

Tahirul Qadri will personally appear before the apex court for the hearing of case. In relation to the case the Supreme Court had issued notices to Federation of Pakistan, Attorney General and Chief Election Commissioner.

Tahir-ul-Qadri had approached Supreme Court on February 7 seeking orders for reconstitution of ECP as constitutional process was not followed in nomination of the four members appointed by the provincial governments.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has also backed Tahir-ul-Qadri’s stance for the reconstitution of election commission.
