It doesn’t mean much, it doesn’t mean anything at all. The life I’ve left behind me is a cold room. I’ve crossed the last line from where I can’t return, where every step I took in faith betrayed me…and led me from my home.
I woke up this morning with today’s song in my head. Why? I have no idea. I hadn’t heard it on the radio in long time. It wasn’t on a television show or movie I watched. It literally came out of nowhere. I don’t even listen to Sarah McLachlan. It’s a completely mystery. Either way though, I figured why not feature it for today’s entry.
Sweet Surrender was released as a single in March of 1998 from Sarah’s fourth album, Surfacing. It went to #28 on Billboard’s Hot 100 as well as #15 on the Top 40. In 2001, it was remixed by DJ Tiesto and went to #6 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart. Click HERE to listen.
Above is a live performance where Sarah also talks about a major influence behind the song: a movie called, Leaving Las Vegas, which starred Nicholas Cage and Elisabeth Shue.
