I believe applesauce is one of the most versatile dishes I can make.
A really good applesauce can be served as a side dish, made into a dessert, or added to cookies, cakes and muffins.
When I was growing up, Mom would serve us applesauce with crushed graham crackers and whipped cream. As you can see, her creation remains a comfort treat to this day.
For this applesauce recipe, I decided to skip the sugar in favor of 100% maple syrup. And what applesauce would be worth its salt without a warm and spicy cinnamon in the mix.If you get a chance this week, make a batch of this spicy applesauce and freeze it for the holidays. You’ll be surprised at how often you’ll use it. I even add it to my morning yogurt!
