Sri Lanka held nerves in the dying moments to snatch a nail-biting victory against New Zealand through super over in the opening game of ICC World Twenty20 Super Eights at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
After both teams were tied on 174 after 20 overs, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 13-1 in their super over bowled by paceman Tim Southee.
In reply New Zealand could manage to reach 7-1 in their super over.
