How's the weather?

We had sunshine, no wind, and a temperature in the upper 40s yesterday. Very nice. We expect it to be even warmer today and tomorrow. I'm looking forward to daily walks!

What are you reading?

I picked up a book called Battle of Wits: The Complete Story of Codebreaking in World War II by Stephen Budiansk. I'm hoping that it will help me figure out what, exactly, the characters in the novel that I'm writing did at Arlington Hall.

What are you watching?

We watched Elvis (2022). I learned a lot. I was familiar with his music, and I remember him as a performer in Las Vegas. I've also seen a few of his movies - we live about as far away from an ocean as you can get in the US, so I sometimes go on beach movie benders. But I didn't know anything about why his career went the way that it did.

I'm nearly finished with Season 3 of All Creatures Great and Small. I've been fascinated watching how a small rural community experienced the declaration of World War II.

What are you writing?

I wrote two blog posts this week.

As promised, I wrote a review of My Black Friend Says... Lessons in Equity, Inclusion, and Cultural Competency by Heather S. Fleming - highly recommended, especially for anyone just beginning their antiracist journey.

For British Isles Friday, I reviewed the 2022 film, Lady Chatterley's Lover. The number of views of my blog shot up the day that posted. Is that what happens when you use the word "porn" in a blog post?

I also wrote a couple of decent scenes for my novel plus several stubs of scenes that I'm not quite ready to write yet. I'm constantly running into chicken-and-egg problems when I'm working on my novel. I'm going to try to find some chickens (or eggs?) next week to solve some of them.

What are you doing?

We're a vehicle down. While I was driving to my weekly Black Lives Matter vigil yesterday, the tire pressure warning light came on. I drove the car home where we topped up the air in the right rear tire. Then I drove it to a locally owned tire shop. They aren't open on Saturdays, but they have a key drop service, so I filled out that form. Rick followed along in the truck to pick me up.

I'm going to have to drive the truck to an eye doctor appointment on Monday, but hopefully I'll get my car back later in the day. Fortunately, there is nowhere that I need to go today - except for a walk to enjoy this lovely weather!
