The yearly Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race took place yesterday on the river Thames. This year’s race was historical because for the first time ever the women’s teams were allowed to compete on the same day and row the same stretch of Thames. About time! Hip – Hip – Hooray! Every year I have been rooting for Oxford for no apparent reason. As it is generally advised that ‘you just have to pick a side’, I picked Oxford and have stuck with it. And again this year Oxford was glorious and won both the women’s and men’s boat races. Another Hip – Hip – Hooray! And look who also got to go watch the rowers speeding past on the river Thames in sunny and glorious spring weather – some of man’s furry four-legged friends. Unfortunately this year Diego was not as lucky as these cute fellas as I decided to watch the boat race from my couch instead of strolling down to the riverfront. Of course Diego still watched (read: slept) the boat race with me.
