Hello fellow bloggers and read-a-thon participants. I’m taking a break from my normal postings to participate in the summerlovin’ RAT (if you’re curious what that is check out the link on the sidebar –>) and today’s topic of discussion is introductions and a challenge post to get you to read some of my favorite books.

My overly-ambitious-will-never-finish-it-because-I-work-full-hours-this-week RAT goal is to finish 12 books and finally get caught up on my goodreads challenge. I’ve got 7 books to review and a stack of books I want to read so I’d like to get finished 6 of each which would significantly deplete my TBR pile and give me the chance to go out and get some new books.
The realistic goal is to read 6 books, 2 or 3 of them my review copies and 3 or 4 from my personal TBR pile.
Right now I’m currently working on “After Death” a review copy of a horror anthology from the editor of “Dark Tales and Lost Civilizations” which I reviewed last year for Zombie Coffee Press. The other book I’m working to finish off is Gillian Flynn’s “Dark Places” which I’m pretty desperate to finish as quickly as possible but life keeps making me leave the house to do stuff, but I’ll have it done tomorrow at the latest.
I’ve also made a sad discovery that wordpress hasn’t saved my lasted round of book reviews, so for those of you who have sent me ARCs but haven’t seen your review I’m going through the archives and trying to see which reviews are totally gone (so far it’s just 2) and I’ll make sure to get those up as quickly as I can. The good news is all reviews have already been posted on goodreads so you can see if I’ve managed to review your book yet or not.

And now for the Challenge Post sponsored today by Shelf Addiction Both of these are books I’ve read recently and thought fabulous, hope you enjoy them too!
Mr. Penumbra’s 24-hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan teaser sentences:

1) “Now: I was pretty sure “24-hour bookstore” was a euphemism for something. It was on Broadway, in a euphemistic part of town”
2) ”The other bookstore is stacked behind and above all that, on the tall laddered shelves, and it is comprised of volumes that, as far as Google knows, don’t exist. Trust me, I’ve searched”

Joyland by Stephen King teaser sentences:
1) “When you’re twenty-one, life is a roadmap. It’s only when you get to be twenty-five or so that you begin to suspect that you’ve been looking at the map upside down, and not until you’re forty are you entirely sure.”
2) ”The last good time always comes, and when you see the darkness creeping toward you, you hold on to what was bright and good.”
