I received this rather wonderful Sugar & Vice necklace for Christmas. Part of their Abstract Collection, this piece takes inspiration from the iconic carpet of the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. Being a huge horror fan, lover of patterns and growing Stanley Kubrick enthusiast I knew this necklace had my name written all over it. Luckily the other half picked up on my (many) hints and I unwrapped this on the 25th December.
I've been a big fan of Sugar & Vice for some time. They are one of my go to sites when trying to find quirky, jewelry shaped present as they offer such a great range of pieces. A tasty Skittle Bracelet made it into my sisters stocking this year and they helped me out with some awesome Name Necklaces for my nieces the year before. I was also lucky enough to win a rad Pizza Necklace in one of their Instagram giveaways.
So, when I heard that Sugar & Vice HQ had suffered a fire just after Christmas, I was gutted for them (and jewelry buying me). This event damaged their laser cutter - a pretty important piece of kit for a laser cut jewelry biz - and insurance wasn't gonna pay out! Oh no! Could this be the end of all that S&V goodness?!! Not quite..... The team have put together an IndieGoGo campaign to raise money so they can get a replacement laser and continue to make awesome jewels. An opportunity to support a small creative business in their time of need AND get a special perk in the process. Get on that!
