When hubby saw this outfit.....his reaction was somewhat like -" this shirt is not denim, it is chambray". Until I had received this raised-eyebrows-reaction, I was a happy soul, ready to pat my back for the commendable job, I thought I did at putting together this juxtaposed (delicate lace meets tough chambray) look. But this facial feedback got me thinking.........big time ! No sooner did we finish the shoot, I was ready to leap into action. From what I read on google, my understanding is that there is a slight difference between how denim and chambray are woven. Chambray is a plain weave whereas denim is twill. Also chambray is softer than denim and is used for the construction of softer silhouettes like tops and shirts. But for all fashion purposes, denim and chambray can be used interchangeably and under no circumstances can the fashion police come knocking at my door for doing so, not even today.......lol !
